sOUTH FRENCH STREET
ARCHITECT: LANGLEY & SCOTT
Historic records suggest that W.B. Stephenson, owner of Breckenridge’s original drug store in the late 1800s, built what is now known as the Evans McLean property. Rockridge collaborated closely with the Town of Breckenridge and architect Janet Sutterley to preserve the home’s historic façade while introducing a new foundation and modern systems that ensure its longevity.
The owners were deeply committed to honoring the property’s heritage, maintaining its historic character both inside and out. During construction, the team was rewarded with a remarkable discovery — a board signed by W.B. Stephenson himself, a tangible connection to the town’s early history.
“Been working with folks at Rockridge for many years as they helped us evaluate dozens of ideas, from large lot new construction to historic home renovations (and everything in between). Their steady guidance helped us find the perfect project, which was a historic renovation in Old Town. They delivered on every promise and made it fun along the way. Most importantly, they produced a piece of art that our family will enjoy for years and years to come (we hope!). We are sincerely proud to call them all our new friends in Breckenridge. Couldn’t recommend them more.”
